I have seriously no words for this piece. A corrupt bureaucrat system, social evils, nepotism, family oriented favours, broken families, A divorce in almost every family and wrong doings are amazingly portrayed in this novel. But, on the other side, A sacrificed love, an eternal wish of let your love happy forever, knows his weaknesses, a kind heart and storm of Silent feelings emerged from the other side.
Umer made Aleezah a mature, sensible and successful girl. I wish they both could led a hap

The thing I liked about this book was its basis were not on romance/love, that's just a side plot. Umera Ahmed has brilliantly focused and conveyed the social , bureaucratic , political problems of pakistan. I really liked it.

I remember the time in eighth standard when everyone was gushing and crying buckets over Amar Bail and there was a constant fight in the school library . Everybody read it and obviously everybody loved, cried buckets over it and fell unconditionally, irrevocably in love with Umer Jehengir . Except me, because I used to be a snob and read Anna Karenina in those days. Well, Anna Karenina and Amarbail are written on the same line. How we are powerless about the people we love.

There are some novels which we love no matter how much we hate it's ending, Amar Bail is one such novel.
It has brought the definition of 'love' to a whole new platform. No matter how much I hate Umar Jahangir for the choices he made,he made me realize that when we love someone truly we have to think about what's best for that person over what is best for us.I think I haven't read any story which had a hero who was so selfless that he would prefer someone else for the girl he loves because he knew

Honestly I was ripped into two halves after I read this book. The only book which will always remain close to my Heart and Soul.I just can't get over the male protagonist Omer Jahangir.<3 <3
My first and last Urdu novel. The pain was unbearable. I'll never forget Omer! The main female character was a bit hollow, needed more depth and a clearer pov.
What happened to aliza after she went out of the room in the last chapter?
Junaid said that he wanted to carry the promise he had given to his friend but aliza didn't answered him. Nor did she said a no. The end was tragic the girl who was already so hurt and always felt like an unwanted child shouldn't have deserved this. That the man she loved died. The end was weak like written in haste because the story extends in some chapters without a cause. It was a lazy story in the beginning. Then it's t

So, this is one book of its kind. Umera Ahmed, as usual, has written a masterpiece. Very few characters, but they leave such a long lasting effect on your heart. Umera makes you fall in love with her characters. Spellbound and speechless. 5 stars because that's the maximum.

Words cannot describe the beauty of this book! Umera Ahmed can never fail to impress her readers. About 700 pages long and almost every chapter was jaw dropping. This book is an eye opening read for individuals like us. I felt like Aleezay's character was portrayerd as us, commoners like us who know nothing of the bureaucrats. Amar Bail is no ordinary book even though the ending was sad and made me cry buckets of tears it definitely touches your soul and eventually just like Aleezay you realize..more
Love it to bits and pieces. From the very first to the very last page i was overwhelmed. It was like riding a emotional roller coaster, and the ending gave me so much pain that i would never dare to read it again but this story is never going to cut and run from me, felt like a reality. The protagonist Umer Jehangir: is an unbeatable character in full literature !!

Amar Bail was awesome. Aleeza & Umar have become my fav couple. The story was gripping and filled with a mixture of emotions. Loving it! Reading Again & Again! Umera Ahmed is now in my fav list. One thing that really wanted from ths novel was a happy ending, everything does not have to be over on death, corruption will continue! Painful Ending but still loving it! Something for everyone to read! Need to own a copy!!!

I think Aleezah and Umar the two most stupidest lovers in the world. Same as Romeo and Juliet. The only reason for the whole fiasco was lack of communication in Romeo and Juliet's . And it wasn't lack of communication here. Aleezah told him straightforward how she felt. Unabashed without reserve. He had absolutely no excuse. Working in a corrupt civil service and blah blah blah. No excuse. Both of them were scarred and timid. Umar was a weak man. First afraid of his father, then afraid of uncle..more
Umera Ahmed, what can I say about her? She’s literally my favourite Pakistani author. I mean, I’ve read only two novels, of her and I already love her writing style. Too bad, here we don’t have her novels . But today it’s not about why I like her. It’s my review on her book and why I love it.
So this book is about Umar and Aleezay’s love story, well it was one sided first and then yeah, pretty much like the others. But the main thing doesn’t lie on romance. It matters on real issue, the issue I

I loved the book. Umera Ahmed is one of my favourite authors I love her work. The facts stated in this book about the Politicians and Bureaucrats are not new to the public but the way she has put them to form a story is commendable. Common people of my country usually speak ill about these people but through this book she has given a complete different perspective to judge them. I loved the character of Umar but to be very honest I did not like Aleezeh's character. In her books the female protag..more
