Anime MMORPG Saint Seiya Online Open Beta kicked off a few weeks ago and I have been playing it on and off during my free time. I don't understand a single word of Chinese so I hope you guys are prepared for a clueless gamer review. I felt like I didn't really get to play this game much, so it is going to be a mini review instead of the usual full review, not to mention the fact that I am playing this game blindly, I will most likely miss some stuff.

Character Creation & Playable Classes

Character Creation was super shiny! As always, I love recording character creation my MMORPG adventures so here is what it looks like. Not much customization involved, which I didn't mind at the time, didn't think I was going to play this game long because of the language barrier. I'm a really big noob when it comes down to the whole Saint Seiya series so I can't really explain all the playable classes and such. However, I did provide a gameplay video of the selectable classes below.

Gameplay and Combat System

Saint Seiya Online's combat system is a little bit in between Point and Click and Action Combat mainly because it auto targets stuff for you similar to Blade & Soul. I'm not sure if I really like the combat system or not but it is super easy to get used to. When you get to a certain level, you can load up a in game macro that lets you arrange a set of skills with a press of one button. Which is kind of like... crazy an ingame lazy mode, which worked out really well for me. I binded that macro to my '1 hotkey' and every time I press that key, it would execute a skills one after the other until everything around my character is dead. Sometimes it would even kill monsters that are really far away. The game seems to be targeting a younger audience because it is pretty much impossible to die while leveling up. If you're a programmer, you can probably setup your own script to make your own leveling bot.

Questing & Leveling Up

I can't emphasize on how easy the questing in this game works. It's very simple really all you have to do is pick up quests, then click on the 'blue text' on your quest menu located on the right ride of your screen. From there on out, it will guide you or complete the quest for you. So simple that a 10 year old can play the game with ease! Saint Seiya Online provides players with a lot of quests so you really don't have to worry about running out of quests early on. Just as long as you complete and do all of them. I'm around level 33 at the moment and there wasn't a time where I had to grind monsters for exp just yet. This game is very user friendly when it comes to questing and leveling so I suggest giving this game a try despite the language barrier.

Graphics & Sound

I thought that the graphics for this game perfectly fit well with the whole Anime MMORPG'ish theme. I probably wouldn't have done anything to change it, it just seems right the way it is. The BGM and sound FX were good. Though there were some parts in my cutscenes where the voice overs would randomly disappear, not that it mattered since I wouldn't be able to understand what the heck they were talking about lol.

Conclusion and Final Thoughts

Saint Seiya Online is a really fun and very user friendly game, I suggest trying it out when you can. Registering is also super simple, if you're interested in trying out the game for yourself, then check out the English Forum Saint Seiya Registration Guide. I enjoyed playing Saint Seiya Online even without watching the Anime series, after playing this game, I now have a reason to get started on it. Though I have a lot of catching up to do! Either I am really good at playing foreign games or this game is super simple, so don't be scared to try it out. You've got nothing else better to lose other than gaming time. Hope you enjoyed this mini review and see you next time!
