Its The Freakin Weekend Song Average ratng: 8,5/10 7751 reviews

There were four songs charting on the Hot 100 this spring that allude to either being tipsy from love or just flat out tossing back a brew for the heck of it. Beyonce's Cognac-soaked 'Drunk in Love' collab with husband Jay Z, Brantley Gilbert says 'Bottoms Up,' Jerrod Niemann wants to 'Drink to That All Night,' while Luke Bryan simply wants to 'Drink a Beer.'

But this certainly isn't the first time musicians have gotten their drink on in song. And with intoxicating holidays like St. Patrick's Day and Cino de Mayo this season -- and let's not forget about the legions of college kids heading out for spring break -- it's a good time to look at the jams that age-appropriate revelers are likely to use to get the party started -- responsibly, of course!

  1. 15

    “Red Solo Cup,” Toby Keith

    Release: 2011
Chart Peak: No. 15, No. 9 on Hot Country Songs

Toby questions the manhood of anyone that doesn't drink from plastic cups of this stumbling drinker's cut.

  2. “Pass the Courvoisier, Part II,” Busta Rhymes

    Release: 2002
Chart Peak: No. 11, No. 4 on Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs

When Busta performed this song with Pharrell Williams at the 2014 NBA All Star game, they changed the liquor shout out to Ciroc vodka. Diddy (also on the track) owns the lux spirit. But back in the day when this cut first dropped, they were all hoping a glass (or bottle for that matter) of the choice Cognac would come their way.

  3. “Drunk On You,” Luke Bryan

    Release: 2012
Chart Peak: No. 16, No. 1 on Hot Country Songs

'Pour a little Crown in a Dixie cup,' sing Bryan here. 'Get the party started.' You heard the man.

  4. 12

    “Swimming Pools (Drank),” Kendrick Lamar

    Release: 2012
Chart Peak: No. 17, No. 3 on Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs

Lamar dives into a pool of liquor and avoids drowning.

  5. “Cheers (Drink to That),' Rihanna

    Release: 2010
    Chart Peak: No. 7

Rihanna says cheers to the freakin’ weekend on this single. We'll drink to that.

  6. “Gin and Juice,” Snoop Dogg and Dr. Dre

    Release: 1994
    Chart Peak: No. 8

Against the law, not only is Dogg smoking weed (before the days of legalization), but he’s taking swigs of gin as well--while driving. Nuts.

  7. 9

    “Drunk in Love,” Beyonce

    Release: 2013
    Chart Peak: No. 2

Bey’ says she’s tipsy off that love she’s got for hubby Jay Z, but trust: the first couple of lines in the song make it known that she will “get filthy when liquor get into me.”

  8. “Crack a Bottle,” Eminem

    Release: 2009
    Chart Peak: No. 1

Em’ encourages all to get loose. Hopefully no one waddles too much like he suggests.

  9. “Spill the Wine,” Eric Burdon and War

    Release: 1970
    Chart Peak: No. 3

This woozy story wraps with wine bottles emptied and figurative pearls taken.

  10. 6

    “Tubthumping,” Chumbawamba

    Release: 1997
Chart Peak: No. 6, No. 1 on Alternative Songs

Danny, the character this cut opens with, is a sad man. And what is he chugging? A whiskey drink, a vodka drink, and we assume more.

  11. “Tipsy,” J-Kwon

    Release: 2004
    Chart Peak: No. 2

This is one of hip-hop’s more simple jams. “Everybody (“Errybody”?) in the club getting tipsy,” J-Kwon raps on the hook. That’s all you need to know.

  12. “Blame It,” Jamie Foxx Feat. T-Pain

    Release: 2009
    Chart Peak: No. 2

Grey Goose will get you loose. Patron will get you gone. Those are just some of the many lessons learned on Foxx's club banger.

  13. 3

    “Red Red Wine,” UB40

    Release: 1983
    Chark Peak: No. 1

UB40 doesn't have much to celebrate here after a bad breakup with an unforgetable lady. So red wine becomes the remedy, or at least the tool to push thoughts of her away.

  14. “Buy U a Drank,” (Shawty Snappin’),” T-Pain

T-Pain starts at square one with a lady he meets at the bar, first offering her a drink after asking her what her name is. 'Let's get drunk and forget what we did,' he says later. Clearly, he's not bashful.

    Release: 2007
    Chart Peak: No. 1

  15. “Escape (The Piña Colada Song),' Rupert Holmes

    Release: 1979
    Chart Peak: No. 1

Rupert, in a relationship, is bored with his lady and is looking elsewhere. Then he sees an ad in the paper. There's a woman saying, 'If you like Pina Colodas... Then I'm the love that you've looked for/ Write to me and escape.' The adventure begins from there.

[Intro: Robert Campbell]
Takin' shots in here, you want one?
(Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah...)
[Chorus]
Cheers to the freakin' weekend
I drink to that, yeah yeah
Oh, let the Jameson sink in
I drink to that, yeah yeah
Don’t let the bastards get you down
Turn it around with another round
There’s a party at the bar
Everybody put your glasses up, and I drink to that
(Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah...)
I drink to that
[Verse 1]
Life’s too short to be sitting around miserable
People gonna talk whether you doing bad or good, yeah
Got a drink on my mind, and my mind on my money, yeah
Looking so bomb, gonna find me a honey
[Pre-Chorus]
Got my Ray-Bans on and I’m feeling hella cool tonight, yeah
Everybody’s vibing, so don’t nobody start a fight, yeah
(Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah...)
[Chorus]
Cheers to the freakin' weekend
I drink to that, yeah yeah
Oh, let the Jameson sink in
I drink to that, yeah yeah
Don’t let the bastards get you down
Turn it around with another round
There’s a party at the bar
Everybody put your glasses up, and I drink to that
(Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah...)
I drink to that
[Verse 2]
'Bout to hop on the bar
Put it all on my card tonight, yeah
Might be mad in the morning, but you know we goin' hard tonight
It’s getting Coyote Ugly up in here, no Tyra
It’s only up from here, no downward spiral
[Pre-Chorus]
Got my Ray-Bans on and I’m feeling hella cool tonight, yeah
Everybody’s vibing, so don’t nobody start a fight, yeah
[Chorus]
Cheers to the freakin' weekend
I drink to that, yeah yeah
Oh, let the Jameson sink in
I drink to that, yeah yeah
Don’t let the bastards get you down
Turn it around with another round
There’s a party at the bar
Everybody put your glasses up, and I drink to that
(Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah...)
I drink to that
[Final Chorus]
Cheers to the freaking weekend
I drink to that, yeah yeah
Oh, let the Jameson sink in

I drink to that, yeah yeah
Don’t let the bastards get you down
Turn it around with another round
There’s a party at the bar
Everybody put your glasses up, and I drink to that
(Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah...)
I drink to that
[Outro]
And I drink to that
(Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah...)
I drink to that
And I drink to that
